Working to transform the forestry sector as a foundation for the bioeconomy and sustainability
I currently chair CORMA, where we drive the consolidation of Chile's forestry sector as a pillar of the bioeconomy, territorial innovation and the country's social development. I also serve on the Board of the World Bioenergy Association (WBA), and I was the founder and president of ACHBIOM for seven years.
I take an active part in multisector business forums such as the National Agriculture Society (SNA), SOFOFA and the Infrastructure Policy Council (CPI), where I promote synergies and collaboration across sectors, building a vision of the bioeconomy in which the forestry sector offers multiple solutions to the challenges of sustainability, circularity, carbon neutrality, rural development and social impact faced by many industries.
With more than 25 years of experience, I have specialized in quality and quantity control and certification across the entire forestry value chain: raw materials, pulp, paper, biomass, biomaterials, solid biofuels and logistics. I have worked with companies, trade associations and public bodies in Chile and internationally, contributing to the sustainable and competitive development of the sector.
I firmly believe that robust measurement and verification systems are key to:
- Improving efficiency within companies
- Ensuring operational and commercial traceability
- Strengthening relationships with suppliers and communities
- Reducing environmental impacts and reputational risks
On the regulatory front, I am a member of INN's Solid Biofuels Standards Committee, and I represented Chile on the ISO International Technical Committee, taking part in the creation of global standards for the industry. I have also participated in key public policy forums such as Congreso Futuro, on the future of forestry and biodiversity, and in the process of drafting Chile's Energy Policy, among others.
I have been part of Red Futuro Madera since its founding, a network that brings together Chile's main forestry associations to position the sector as a strategic player in the country's economic, environmental and territorial future.
